Despacito was a track from the year 2017 released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It was the most streamed track across the globe within the space of six months. The combination of reggaeton and pop music has not only brought attention back to the genre, but as well to Latin music as a whole. The Billboard Top 100 included four mostly Spanish songs from 2016 compared with two for 2015. In the midst of the Despacito's popularity in 2017 there were 19 mostly Spanish tracks which made it into the top 100. Then in 2020 there were 41. Justin Bieber's bilingual remix Despacito was released in the year. Then, numerous popular artists started collaborating with reggaeton performers. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny to create MIA (2018) in addition to Madonna collaborated with Maluma for the release of Medellin. From the beginning of the year 2020, some musicians from reggaeton felt dissatisfied with the direction the genre was shifting towards the mainstream. Rauw Alajandro is a member of a brand new generation looking to alter the course. The incorporation of elements from electronic dance music and different styles was an accepted procedure.
